Our students are always busy writing, painting, dancing, performing or playing games. We believe that we can provide children with a standard of excellence and instill in them the love of learning. Creative expression is also a core value at Booker T. and so we are always encouraging our children to share themselves through their work.
All over the country lovers of poetry are celebrating National Poetry Month. This year the kids at Booker T. are hard at work writing their own original poems, as well as reading some of the greats. They are taking part in weekly workshops led by Eboni Hogan, a staff member at Booker T. who is also a published spoken word poet and member of the 2007 Nuyorican Poet's Cafe Slam Team, ranked 5th in the nation out of 75 teams of performance poets.
