The 10th Annual Benefit Concert
From the choir's first note of the night, it was clear that this gospel concert was going to be a memorable one. On Sunday, November 9th, guests filed into the beautiful, spacious sanctuary at All Souls Unitarian Church for Booker T.'s annual benefit concert. For a second year, we were entertained by the Songs of Solomon Gospel Youth Choir. Led by the always exhuberant Chantel Renee Wright, the choir performed in every style, from classical to spiritual. The audience was not only in awe of the raw talents of these young performers, but also the discipline that goes into executing such complex musical numbers, while incorporating elements of dance and theatre.
After the concert, a reception was held and the winners of the raffle were announced. A few lucky people walked away with prizes such as a brand new Dell laptop, an HP iPAQ PDA and two tickets to see the Mets play in their new home field. In the silent auction, some designer fashions from Coach, Juicy Couture and Ralph Lauren, were up for grabs. Guests departed with smiles on their faces, ready for what surprises we have in store for next year.
