The 2008 Garden Party
With the sun shining and temperatures slowly rising, we had ourselves a perfect day for a garden party. Every year the Booker T. Washington Learning Center hosts a celebration where the kids are given the chance to share the original poetry that they had been working on during the month of April in honor of National Poetry Month. Parents, staff, volunteers and friends of BTWLC gathered in our backyard garden for the party. Every child presented 2 to 3 poems that they have been writing and rehearsing for several weeks. We were even able to get a couple of our New Generations participants and a staff member onto the mic. There were poetry games with prizes, face painting and plenty of food.
If
you missed the party this year, be sure to get in on the fun next year.
