Dear Friend,
This time of the year fills people with a special excitement. It is born of anticipation, thoughtfulness, hope and gratitude. Those feelings create a very special time for us here at The Booker T. Washington Learning Center. Anyone who works with needy children and families wants to make this season all that it can possibly be for them. For many of our families, it is a struggle to find the joy of the season, but we try to make that possible. We believe this is a time where we should all share our gifts with one another.
I have the wonderful pleasure of working at a job that I absolutely love. I have been part of Booker T. for nineteen years and have worked in every capacity. What makes this place so special for each of us is that each day we feel as if we come to work and share our gifts with each other and the children. Our staff members bring their hearts, their skills, their talents and their emotions to work and offer those gifts to beautiful children with amazing potential. In return we are able to experience the love, joy and peace that people search for during this time.
We are so proud of what we see them accomplishing:
- 100% of our college students are still matriculated in school.
- 100% of summer campers described their experience as better than average or exceptional.
- 100% of our students were promoted last year.
- 95% of first generation college bound students are on target to graduate high school on time.
We ask that you consider the children and families of The Booker T. Washington Learning Center this season and share your gifts with our children. Any financial gift that you can share will be so appreciated by our children, families and staff. We recognize that these are difficult times, so your gift is especially appreciated now. Share your gift and help change lives.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Rev. Kimberly Wright, Executive Director
