Educating Children Helping Families Building Communities |

Dear Friend,
It is time to celebrate! For 25 years The Booker T. Washington Learning Center has been committed to serving the most vulnerable children and adults in East Harlem. Since 1986, thousands of families have found support, opportunity and resources that have made a life changing difference. We have made it possible for people of our community to thrive, not just survive. We are able to look back over these 25 years and feel proud of the investment that we have made in so many lives. We have watched our children grow up to be extremely responsible, hard working and productive people.
There are so many who have overcome learning disabilities, achieved academic success - even in a failing school system, graduated high school and gone on to college. The small group of young people we started Booker T. with are all enjoying their careers, their families and their lives. They have overcome poverty and beaten the odds. After 25 years, we continue to be a cornerstone in East Harlem for families who would otherwise not be able to afford quality services for their children and have no place to turn to. Our programs meet the needs of many immigrant families, unemployed and the working under-employed, children with special needs and young people who are in desperate need of guidance and academic support.
Booker T. could not exist if it were not for people who believe in these children and believe in our work. Celebrate with us and help to ensure that Booker T. continues to serve East Harlem’s fragile families. You will help sustain our work and ensure that each child has…
A second Home, second Family and second School.
Warmest regards,
Rev. Kimberly Wright Executive Director
